StatementRorschach America is a piece about perception. As we celebrate the various Independence Bicentennials of sovereign nations throughout the continent, the very issue of nation is put into question. Ink-blot tests are used to entice the psychiatric patient into projecting their inner anxieties onto an abstracted symmetric black stain on paper. These 25 silk screens are images resulting from the manipulation of the contours of the maps of American countries, each one evokes a different image in the mind of the viewer. Hence, the idea of nation is to be interpreted and projected upon on behalf of each viewer.
