StatementThe range of ideas that inform my work are rooted in the innovations made in the fifties at the experimental artists’ school, Black Mountain College; and in the abstract expressionist movement in New York. Inspired by these were the Colorado based artists’ collective, Drop City, which featured geodesic housing and solar heating; and the Criss-Cross group, which published a national art magazine. My involvement in these endeavors sparked an ongoing exploration of pattern and geodesic structure. Grounded in the Bauhaus principle “form follows function”, my current paintings and animations are an attempt to identify synchronicity between diverse patternings from art, science and nature.
