StatementDovekins part the sky, so it would be no surprise if the band's audience looked up for an answer to the question, "where did this troupe come from?" It is just as well that listeners realize they are hopeless to escape the weather shift that comes with seeing Dovekins perform, and to invite the change.

"We are sailors of a sailboat without wind, on the move by a moon-powered electric fan." The moon, reflecting only 4% of the sun, does not offer much power. "We'll take turns blowing," says multi-instrumentalist and band member, Stelth Ulvang.

Drawing comparisons to Devendra Bandhart, Dovekins do appeal to the introspective. But from the back of any venue the Dovekins are playing, from large regional theaters to intimate house concerts, a sea of bopping heads and bouncing feet is the norm. The band's performances, though, are uniquely rooted in music's original purpose -- to gather an entire community, not for us to gawk at one particular band, but for us to come together, united by our experience.
