Denver Biennial of the Americas Announces Donna Good as President

December 2, 2009

Mayor John Hickenlooper and Denver Biennial of the Americas CEO Jim Polsfut announced today that Donna Good has joined the Biennial of the Americas team as President. To be celebrated in Denver during the entire month of July 2010, the Biennial will be an extraordinary tribute to the strength and vitality of the Americas. The Biennial brings together world leaders as well as opinion and policy makers for substantive symposiums on the most compelling issues facing the entire Western Hemisphere. At the same time, Denver will showcase the richness of the arts and cultures of the 35 countries that make up the Americas with events throughout the city and region.

“Donna has the kind of creativity and perseverance needed to help achieve success in the Biennial of the Americas inaugural year,” said Hickenlooper. “Her experience in successfully organizing and executing large-scale international events made her the ideal candidate for this position.”

As President, Good will also serve as development director and chief operations officer, and will oversee the main stage events to take place in the entirely refurbished historic McNichols building located in Civic Center park.

“The Denver Biennial of the Americas gives Denver an opportunity to propel its vision for a more cohesive and collaborative Western Hemisphere,” said Polsfut. “Donna’s leadership and experience will be key in achieving the Biennial’s goals of raising arts and culture awareness, promoting innovation, and inspiring action.”

Ms. Good most recently served as President and CEO for the Center for Women and Enterprise, where she expanded and enhanced entrepreneurship options for women at all economic levels. Prior to the Center for Women and Enterprise, Good served as Manager for the Denver Department of Human Services under Mayor Wellington Webb. Good was directly responsible for a $250 million budget and oversight for 1,200 personnel in five satellite offices.

Highlights of her international experience include serving as Executive Director on the U.S. Host Committee – International Summit on Hazardous Waste Disposal – U.S. Department of Energy. Additionally, Ms. Good served as Executive Director for the 1997 Denver Summit of the Eight Host Committee, in which she hired and managed all staff, was the chief fundraiser, organized and executed nine Summit events involving world leaders and other dignitaries, and developed and managed a 4,000-person volunteer base. Furthermore, Good served as Vice President of PSI, Inc, the largest international social marketing firm serving the third world.

“I am delighted to be a part of the Denver Biennial of the Americas team, helping to bring the most exciting international event of 2010 to Denver,” Good said. “I look forward to welcoming visionary leaders in critical policy arenas, as well as outstanding artists and cultural leaders from across the Americas, to this extraordinary city which has become a crossroads for all those who are looking to new and innovative leadership to secure our future.”

Ms. Good earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance from the University of Colorado, a master’s degree in Information Management from Simmons College and a masters of public administration degree in Public Policy from the University of Colorado.
