| Biography | Navas-Nieves is a Latin American art scholar and curator with 20 years of curatorial and museum experience. She is currently Curator of Hispanic Art at the Taylor Museum, which holds one the oldest and most significant collections in the country. Previously, she served as Curatorial Consultant for the Denver Art Museum's New World Department. From 1996 to 2003, she was curator for the Museo de las Américas in Denver. She also worked in the Latin American art department of the Blanton Museum of Art, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Navas-Nieves has also been an Independent Curator for private collections of Latin American, American, Native American and European art in Colorado, California and Puerto Rico. She earned her B.A. in Art History from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (1986), and an M.A in Latin American Art from the University of Texas, Austin (1999). |
