Vincent Nguyen’s journey is a testament to family, passion, and innovation. Growing up in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood, he began his restaurant career at his family’s beloved Pho Hoang. After studying medicine in Australia, he returned home to honour his late father’s legacy, reimagining Pho Hoang with his mother Ly and sister Amelie into Anh and Chi—a vibrant, modern Vietnamese restaurant. Amid the pandemic, Vincent’s leadership successfully pivoted Anh and Chi to takeout, solidifying its place as a staple for at-home dining. His creativity shines in his latest venture, Good Thief, a nhậu and cocktail bar blending global flavours with Vietnamese culture. Under his guidance, Anh and Chi earned MICHELIN recognition, multiple hospitality awards, coupled with Vincent’s recent naming as BC’s 2024 Rising Star in the Restaurant Hall of Fame. With over $440,000 raised for local nonprofits through initiatives like the Reservation by Donation Program, Vincent continues to lead with purpose, shaping the future of his family’s legacy and Vancouver’s culinary and business scene.
