Carlos Castaño-Uribe

Carlos Castaño-Uribe is the Scientific Director of Fundación Herencia Ambiental Caribe. He holds a doctorate in Anthropology and is one of the most renowned environmentalists in South America. He has directed key environmental institutions in Colombia, including the Hydrology, Meteorology, and Environmental Studies Institute (ideasM), the National Parks Service, the Secretary of Environment of Bogotá and the Vice-ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Colombia. He is the recipient of prestigious international awards in conservation, amongst them the  IUCN International Parks Merit Award and the Fred M. Packard Award.Today, Carlos spends most of his time working in protected area conservation and doing research on the rock art of Chiribiquete National Park.
