Alex Yueyan Li
Co-Principal | 11 x 17 Architecture
Alex Yueyan Li is co-principal of 11 x 17, a research-driven design practice with offices in Denver and Toronto. Li is also an educator, appointed in 2024 as Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of Colorado Denver.
Founded in 2022 by co-principals Alex Yueyan Li and Mahsa Malek, the practice produces works across multiple scales—exhibitions, installations, furniture, interiors, books, and buildings. Works undertaken by 11 x 17 have been published globally and featured in Architect’s Newspaper, Architectural Record, E-flux, Archinect, New York Review of Architecture, PLAT, DesignTO, and AZURE. In addition to private commissions, the practice has collaborated with various cultural and academic institutions, including the Chicago Architecture Biennial, DesignTO, Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts, Collision Gallery, Denver Art Museum, Harvard University Graduate School of Design, National Trust for Historic Preservation, University of Toronto, and among others. In 2025, 11 x 17 was awarded the League Prize for Young Architects + Designers from the Architectural League of New York.
