With more than 20 years of experience in the environmental sector, his leadership combines science, public policy and social innovation, driving emblematic initiatives such as the first action plans for endangered species in the country, sustainable tourism projects such as "1000 km of trails and protected area development and management plans.
He was director of the Department of Protected Areas and Biodiversity of the Ministry of Environment and of the Summit Municipal Park. He is the founder of Caminando Panama, an organisation that promotes the connection of Panamanians with nature through outdoor recreation.
He holds a double Master's degree in Human Dimensions of Natural Resource Management (Colorado State University) and in Conservation Leadership (El Colegio de la Frontera Sur, Mexico), and is currently pursuing a PhD in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Management at Penn State University.
