Lucy Holtsnider and Zarapes Studios
Lucy Holtsnider is a printmaker and collage artist who layers organic materials, including paper, wood, and ceramic tile, into vibrant compositions that evoke memories of both the natural world and the built environment. Her earthy, abstract works emerge from a practice that centers experimental handmade processes. Her work has been exhibited at the Arvada Center for the Arts, the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, the Art, Design and Architecture Museum at UC Santa Barbara, and the International Print Center, New York. She holds a BA from Colorado College and an MFA from UC Santa Barbara.
Zarapes Studios is located in the Five Points neighborhood and is managed by the Birdseed Collective. Member artists work in a variety of mediums and show locally, nationally and internationally but remain deeply rooted in the Denver art scene. Muralist Anthony Garcia will kick off the visit with a few words about Birdseed Collective, then Lucy will give a short talk about her practice. Seven other artists will also be present and ready to discuss their work that day: printmakers and curators Emily Moyer and Raymundo Muñoz, painter and tattoo artist Mike Strescino, illustrator Dylan Griffith, muralist and fabric artist Skela, painter and ceramicist Amanda Villalobos, and painter and collage artist Samual Mata.
