Join us at the historic Art Students League of Denver (ASLD) for a compelling look into the work of 2026 artist-in-residence Juan Carlos Escobedo. Since 1987, ASLD has operated under the belief that art is for everyone, fostering artistic self-expression and community conversation from its landmark West Wash Park home.
In his new solo exhibition, Curas: Males del Corazón, Escobedo builds on his previous explorations of classism, racism, and colorism to observe the broader phenomena surrounding racialized landscapes. Reflecting on generational curas (remedies) passed down through family and culture, he creates intimate visual vignettes illustrating how non-western beliefs treat emotional, psychological, and physical pain as a interconnected system—offering a powerful new layer of resistance against epistemic whiteness.
See you there!
