Join Culture Club for an intimate visit to Art by Bala Studio, the personal home studio of artist Bala Thiagarajan. We'll step inside her active workspace to see works in progress, learn about the tactile techniques behind her paintings and ceramics, and hear how her practice grew into a broader movement for equity and representation in the arts community.

Art by Bala Studio is the working studio of artist Bala Thiagarajan. For more than 15 years, Bala has maintained a full-time professional art practice exploring the intersections of painting, ceramics, mathematics, science, and South Asian cultural traditions. Visitors will step inside an active studio to see works in progress alongside finished pieces, learn about the tactile techniques that define her work, and discover how visual impairment has shaped her relationship with texture, materiality, and sensory engagement beyond sight. The conversation will also explore how an individual studio practice grew into broader community initiatives, including the founding of the Colorado South Asian Artists Group (C-SAAG), and the role artists can play in building more equitable and representative arts communities.

Access Informtaion:
Art by Bala Studio is located in Bala’s personal home. Access to the studio requires navigating several stairs, and unfortunately the space is not wheelchair accessible or able to accommodate guests with significant mobility limitations. We also have two friendly dogs who are accustomed to visitors and will likely be present during the event.

Parking:
Guests are welcome to park on the cul-de-sac & street. Please be mindful not to block neighboring driveways. The driveway can accommodate 4 cars.
