ABOUT LOTERÍA

Often described as Mexican bingo, Lotería is a traditional game of chance that has brought friends and families together for generations. Instead of numbered balls, players use illustrated cards featuring colorful images. As each image is called, players mark their boards, racing to complete a winning pattern and shout "¡Lotería!"

Rooted in Mexican culture, the game is a celebration of tradition, storytelling, and community.

ABOUT LA LOTERÍA BOTÁNICA

Presented by Denver Botanic Gardens as part of Yo soy, the Gardens' annual celebration of Latino cultures, La lotería botánica reimagines the traditional Mexican game through a botanical lens.

The exhibition features original artwork by 10 local artists, exploring the connections between plants, culture, food, history, and community. These unique interpretations bring fresh perspectives to a beloved tradition, celebrating the stories and cultural significance found in the natural world.
