To Let the Sky Know/ Dejar que cielo sepa

Ana María Hernando

About the Installation

Ana María Hernando has inserted tulle sculptures of vibrant coloration and buoyancy as symbols of hope, growth, and fluidity. Hernando creates sculpture in an abundance of tulle—the sumptuous fabric netting—inspired by natural forms and transformed through the sewing process to beckon fragility and evanescence.

This summer, we’re excited to engage the community with Hernando’s installation through our joyful new edition of our kid art kits. This years art kit, called Tulle Dreams, gives children and families a hands-on art experience that reflects the spirit of Ana Maria’s work and our commitment to community-centered programming.

Through interactive art-making at public events and the distribution of these kits, we’re helping Denver-area youth and families connect more deeply with the themes of beauty, transformation, and sustainability in this large-scale installation. These kits are designed for little hands and big imaginations—encouraging self-expression through color, texture, and creative exploration.

This public art project and kid art kit funding is made possible through the Riverfront Park Community Foundation.

Dream Tulle Art Kits

As part of Ana María Hernando’s large-scale installation Let the Sky Know / Dejar que sepa el cielo, the Biennial created Dream Tulle Art Kits to bring the project’s spirit into the hands of the community. Each kit includes colorful tulle and simple instructions for crafting small sculptures that echo Hernando’s monumental floating forms.

These kits invite participants of all ages to explore play, imagination, and collective creativity. By layering and shaping tulle, community members created their own “dream forms,” contributing to the broader dialogue of the project: honoring beauty, lightness, and connection through art.

Free and accessible, the kits extend the artwork beyond the installation site, offering a way for families, schools, and individuals to engage directly with the Biennial’s mission of cultural participation and creativity across the Americas.

We will be handing out the Tulle Dreams Kid Art Kits throughout the summer. Come say hi and get your art kit at one of the dates below!
