Cuneyt A. Akay is a compliance, investigations, and anti-corruption lawyer focused on helping clients operate in an ethical and compliant manner in complex and high-risk jurisdictions worldwide. Cuneyt also serves as the Co-Managing Shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Denver office.

Cuneyt designs, builds, and implements effective compliance programs for clients around the world and has advised clients operating in Latin America, North America, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. He has also conducted internal investigations for mid-sized companies to Fortune 50 companies in connection with potential violations of the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and other anti-corruption laws.

Cuneyt also represents clients in complex civil litigation, class actions, and appellate proceedings in both state and federal courts throughout the country. In addition, he advises clients on governmental matters, including election law issues, ballot initiatives, campaign finance, and administrative proceedings.

As a graduate of Leadership Denver’s Class of 2016, Cuneyt is actively engaged in his community, serving as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of University Preparatory School and previously served on the Board of Directors of Colorado I Have A Dream Foundation.

Cuneyt received his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and his B.A. in Government from Cornell University.

In his spare time, Cuneyt explains how to pronounce his name to non-Turkish people around a dozen times a day (pronounced “Juh-Nate”) and still dreams of becoming the first Wimbledon champion to win a Green Jacket after finishing his illustrious career as a starting point guard in the NBA.
